The Kimberley Experts

Voted 'Best Domestic Tour Operator' in 2012 and 2013, no other company is better equipped to take you on an adventure to this fabled frontier.

Multiple Award Winners

Our people are the key to the numerous awards and accolades we keep receiving: voted 'Best Domestic Tour Operator' in the 2012 National Tourism Industry Awards; and inducted into the WA Tourism Hall of Fame - an achievement only a handful of tour operators can boast. And, as the major tour operator to be granted Advanced Eco-Certification in Kimberley operations, it's easy to see why we are number one with discerning travellers.

98% Satisfaction Rating

Whilst the quality of our tours has been recognised with several tourism awards, greater reward comes from the 98% satisfaction rating we receive from past travellers and their wonderful feedback. Rather than hear more from us, visit the testimonial section of our website to see what our travellers have said.

Number One in the Kimberley

No other operator can offer the experience, network of lodges, or access that we do - so you can experience the real Kimberley, rather than merely brushing the surface. No matter what style of travel you're looking for, we've got the option for you. From Small Group 4WD Adventures that journey to remote wilderness areas escorted by your own Driver-Guide, to Independent Air Safaris for those seeking a more independent Kimberley experience. While for the ultimate Kimberley discovery, we offer a comprehensive range of cruise and land adventures that will leave you spellbound.

APT - Leading the Way

When APT first began escorting travellers around the remote Kimberley over 40 years ago, there was no permanent accommodation or network of staff - so we created them, with minimal impact on the environment, and with respect for local communities. Today, we offer expertly crafted itineraries featuring all the spectacular sights and hidden secrets we've discovered since.

Kimberley Based Operations

As an isolated frontier, travelling into the Kimberley region requires specialist local knowledge. We are proud of our exclusive infrastructure in the Kimberley, which has been established and maintained over many years. It is there to provide a safe passage over the region's rugged terrain and constantly changing road conditions, and enhances your utmost enjoyment of this spectacular wilderness area. With over 70 team members, consisting of expert drivers, guides, lodge staff and operations staff based in Broome, APT provide comprehensive support on the ground in the Kimberley. Plus, all of our lodges are located close to air strips in case of emergencies.

Responsible Tourism

The APT Group is focused on achieving best practice in economic, social and environmental responsibility. In conducting our operations, we strive to minimise our impact on the environment, spread benefits throughout the local economies in Australia and internationally, as well as directly promote and support community wellbeing.

Our Indigenous Partnerships

APT continues to forge relationships with the traditional land owners to keep the Kimberley pristine, preserve Aboriginal culture and nurture a flourishing Indigenous future.

Respecting the Environment & Aboriginal Culture

As a trusted and pioneering provider of life-enriching holiday experiences, APT has a dual responsibility to both our customers, and to the unique cultures and environments to which we take them. In fulfilling these responsibilities, we'll take you on an incredible journey into pristine ecosystems while you explore ancient traditions and cultures - and we'll leave them all intact.

Partnering Wunan for a Sustainable Future

Wunan was established in 1997 to drive long-term socio-economic change for Aboriginal people, and APT is proud of its partnership with this vital organisation. Through our touring program, financial investment and network of wilderness lodges in the Kimberley, we assist Wunan in several ways. Employment opportunities for local Indigenous people have been created by the construction, maintenance and operation of our wilderness lodges. By travelling with us, you are directly assisting the community development of the Kimberley's Indigenous population.

Enjoy Exclusive Access

APT’s relationship with local traditional landowners has led to the construction of several permanent wilderness lodges. APT has a unique partnership with the Djabulukgu Association, providing our guests with access to highly restricted and rarely visited areas of Kakadu. Visit sacred sites, see ancient rock art and explore the beautiful areas of Cannon Hill, Hawk Dreaming and Arnhem Land.

Proudly Giving Back to the Local Community

At APT, we take great pride and are devoted to help local Indigenous people, both young and old, reach their potential and pursue their goals. Last year, we donated $250,000 to help assist a remote Indigenous community. Of this, $60,000 went towards the cost of employing two teachers to educate the school children of the Mitchell Plateau's Kandiwal community. With plans to bring reliable electricity to this remote region, $190,000 was put towards a new power plant for the community.

The talented artists of the Imintji community near Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge have been able to follow their passion when we supplied them with art material this year. Our wilderness lodges provide exhibition spaces, giving you the chance to purchase their artwork, and help the artists fulfil their dreams.

Climate Change

APT is acutely aware of the damaging effects of climate change on the environment. APT has its own modern fleet of transport vehicles that are designed to minimise emissions in the most practical way. Our offices, wilderness lodges and other infrastructure already adopt a range of practices to minimise emissions, including the use of solar power, reduced energy usage, recycling and other initiatives.

Advanced Ecotourism Certification / Accredited Tourism Business

APT is fully committed to ecologically sustainable tourism with a focus on experiencing natural areas, while fostering environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation.

Our KWA lodges, camps and adventure touring operations are eco-certified at the highest level. We are proud to be one of the few tour operators with Advanced Ecotourism certification, which officially recognises the outstanding economically, environmentally and socially sustainable practices we adopt. Also boasting Eco-certified Tourism accreditation is APT's exclusive Kings Canyon Wilderness Lodge in the Northern Territory.

APT has also received Respecting Our Culture (ROC) endorsement. This program uniquely acknowledges APT's cultural protocols and authenticity, as well as our sustainable business and environmental practices.
Further, APT is an Accredited Tourism Business having met the requirements of the National Tourism Accreditation Standard.

APT Conservation Fund

The APT Charitable and Conservation Fund was established in 2003. Every year, a percentage of our profits and time goes towards supporting our conservation projects.

We support the Australian Wildlife Conservancy, dedicated to preserving Indigenous wildlife at Mornington Sanctuary in the Kimberley, Brooklyn Sanctuary near Cairns and Karakamia Sanctuary near Perth. We also sponsor a Tasmanian Devil, Delilah, to encourage the species' survival.
